So excited!

Only one more sleep to go before we board the plane and make our way to the UK!  It's going to be so great catching up with family and friends.  Dog and house being baby-sat - now all I need to do is last minute bits and bobs.    Like haircuts for the kids - yay!  I had my hair cut yesterday, it was really long down to the middle of my back, now it seems a lot shorter at shoulder length - I think my hairdresser, whom I know quite well, decided to take some extra off because I don't go very often; it's one of my least favourite tasks.  As I left she said "see you in 3 months or so for your next trim" so it got me thinking ...

What difference does a border make?


It makes quite a lot of difference to add a border is the answer:


It doesn't, however, alter the colour as much as in these photos!  Taking the pic on different days and at different times makes it look different though.   Hmmm ...... 


Here you go - a detailed pic of the border and one of my favourite squares.  A bit closer to the true colour as well :)  The pattern is from a book called 'Crochet Now' which is fab.  Lots of patterns including clothing and accessories.  It's also a departure from my normal colour schemes of purple, purple and purple.  This time I was thinking of grass, forests and the sea.  Took me in a whole other direction.  But I like it ...

Sorry, but it makes me mad!

It's official - corporate giants can ride roughshod over the common people.  Although our local council had rejected the plans for the Optus phone tower to be built 170m away from our local primary school, the WAPC (state planning) and John Day (idiot) have seen fit to overturn the decision, and despite the huge community outcry the plan has been approved.  What a sad day, when money and mobile phone reception wins out over the health of our kids.  Shame on you ... don't expect us to go quietly ...
