Blogtoberfest day 3 - First quote for October!

Woah - another heavy day at work with the second day of my training course.  It culminated in having to do role play in front of a small audience to consolidate our learning.  Talk about being petrified!!!  When the facilitator asked me what I thought I'd done well, I replied "just sitting up here and doing it" ... but I did feel so good after I'd finished ... when firstly I'd had to summon all my courage to not run out of the door!

So I came home and decided to do something for myself that I enjoy for a bit of self-care, and today it was looking for inspiring quotes to add to my collection - does anyone else enjoy collecting quotes?

And I found this, very apt I think ...

Blogtober day 2 - something going on in the lounge room ...

Phew - what a day.  I've had a really heavy day at work, so decided I would blog about something that made me smile.

There's obviously something going on in the lounge, but these guys have a good vantage point from the coffee table ...

I love all these little signs of imaginative play, my Little Man making his presence known about the house, even when he's not physically in the room.  This sort of thing makes me smile :)

Blogtober day 1 - the colour of summer

We picked our remaining oranges from our tree this weekend - I'm still amazed that I can grow, pick and eat our very own grown citrus fruit!  This is my little helper checking the quality - he valiantly held the box whilst I was up the ladder reaching the highest growing fruit before I lobbed them down to him - he caught every one!  Even the bees were in a summery mood, buzzing contentedly amongst the heady smelling orange blossom, not even curious about the enormous hand flitting between them taking the fruit.

To frog or not to frog ... that is the question ...

Just about to finish my round - using the right colour this time ...

This is a good tip - don't choose colours at night!  I worked a whole round of my yarn eater blankie, then started on the next in a new colour, before I realized the colour I'd joined on to finish the previous round wasn't quite right, nearly ok but subtly different.  So I walked away and wondered if I'd be able to live with it.  The choice: to frog or not to frog - i.e. to rip it (frog noise, sort of, hence the term 'to frog it') out and start again or not.  I decided to frog it - I simply would not be able to look at the blanket without seeing my mistake, and I figured it was worth another couple of hours of pain to gain peace for the next 10 years or so when I view my blanket!  :)

My Creative Space: There's a birthday in the house ...

It's a very special little man's birthday today!  And I must have done something right in my parenting as his special request for a birthday meal was beef, gravy and vegetables!  Followed by lemon meringue pie instead of a birthday cake.  Here is where we got creative - candles stuck into a foil covered potato, favourite Star Wars candle held up with blu-tac, and empty party poppers lined up artistically by Little Man himself to form a backdrop.  Looks rather stunning overall don't you think?  A good team effort in creativity :)

Where is September going?  Wherever it is, it's going there fast!!!  I feel like I'm lagging seriously behind where I should be - lots happening, birthday and accompanying party, big kids leaving school, wishing I could get my life into gear and start my arty adventure ... where are you at?
